Film making was (still is, but you know life happens) a big interest for me. SAW really hit the sweet spot of what I enjoyed as a teen. I loved the traps, twists, and seemingly insane turnover time of these movies. They were just bloody and insane enough while clearly just being entertainment that they fell strongly into the category of "cool". It was a simpler time.
I frequented many film blogs (some which still exist, and some which do not) and made this a bit of a hub for SAW news I'd come across. It's interesting to see the views I got looking back at it.
I simultaneously cringe at and am endeared to my younger self reading through this place. I definitely could've spent more time with what I wrote (and edited more when I did write something). It's an interesting snapshot of excitement and fandom from the mid to late aughts.
Something about the people who made these (and the films themselves) was just so awesome.
Check out the SAW X trailer and try not to judge the older posts too much. It's been a literal lifetime since the peak of this blog and I've come back here with a strong sense of nostalgia. It's all very old news by now anyway.
Not sure I'll frequent this place as much as I once did (again life happens). I hope this new film at least reminds me of the good parts of being younger--- the parts that represent things I was passionate about even if I had not figured out fully how to express that.
Horror movies rock. Movies rock.
